Frequently asked questions.
What makes the nature art from Fern Star Designs unique?
My nature art is unique because it's created from a perspective that blends artistry with a deep scientific and personal understanding of the natural world. I'm not just painting a landscape; I'm exploring an ecosystem. With a Master's degree in Conservation Biology, I infuse each piece with a genuine passion for the environment and the intricate connections within it. The goal isn't just to create a beautiful image, but to spark curiosity and foster a deeper appreciation for our planet's wild beauty, making each piece a conversation starter.
Do you create Colorado art or art inspired by specific local landscapes?
Absolutely! As an Arvada-based artist, I am constantly inspired by the stunning and diverse landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and the surrounding prairies. Much of my work is directly influenced by the beauty of our state, making it authentic Colorado Art. From the vibrant wildflower meadows in the high country to the serene aspen groves in the fall, I love capturing the unique spirit of our local natural wonders. If you're looking for art that celebrates Colorado, you're in the right place!
Who is your art for? Is it a good gift for a nature lover?
My art is for everyone who finds peace, joy, and wonder in the natural world. It is especially created as art for the nature lover – the hiker, the gardener, the bird watcher, the sunset admirer, the naturalist, and anyone who feels a connection to the wild. Because each piece tells a story about an ecosystem, a specific species, or a natural phenomenon, it makes a particularly thoughtful and meaningful gift for anyone who cherishes the outdoors.
Do you accept commissions for custom paintings?
Yes, I love working on custom commissions! It's a wonderful way to create a truly personal piece of nature art, whether it's a painting of a cherished landscape, a favorite flower, or another nature-inspired vision. Please visit my "Commissions" page for more details on the process for standard canvas paintings, murals, and other special projects.
How should I care for my new artwork?
Caring for your art ensures it lasts a lifetime. For original acrylic or oil paintings on canvas, simply dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Acrylics are typically not varnished to protect the vibrancy of the paintings over time. For works on paper, such as watercolors or charcoal drawings, it is crucial to keep them framed under glass and out of direct, prolonged sunlight to prevent fading. All my artwork, both original and prints, will last longest when displayed away from direct sun and high humidity.
What is your shipping policy?
I take great care in packaging every piece of art to ensure it arrives safely. Original paintings are securely wrapped and boxed. Prints are typically packaged in protective sleeves with sturdy backing or rolled in tubes for larger sizes. All orders are shipped from my studio in Arvada, Colorado, and you will receive a tracking number once your order is on its way. Please see individual Etsy listings for specific processing and shipping times.
